This time Woo Young-woo has to work together with Kwon Min-woo but seems like he is going to be more of a hurdle than help to our protagonist. And it has begun with him informing her about the case and giving her the necessary documents right before meeting the client. During the discussion, Kwon Min-woo is able to get on good terms with the client who agrees to share more information with him, but Woo Young-woo is unable to do so and later gets reprimanded by Jung Meung-seok.

Kwon Min-woo later reveals to Woo Young-woo that she is his competition in getting their one-year contract with the law firm renewed and he will not be helping her with anything, including sharing the information on this case. Woo Young-woo sees an oncoming peril but cannot compete like others due to her autism spectrum. During the trial, the defendant proves that Ihwa ATM company has taken a technology that has been made public in the US and has filed for its copyright but due to insufficient proof the court is adjourned till the next date.

Woo Young-woo has doubts about their client and tries to discuss this with Kwon Min-woo but he refuses and tells her that the two should search for clues on their own. He then tells her to not pull another wild card like in a previous case which upsets her and she calls him Tactician Kwon Min-woo. The two are about to get into a feud when an argument outside catches their attention. In the corridor outside, the plaintiff and defendant are arguing while Kwon Min-woo asks Woo Young-woo if she is able to tell who of the two is lying.

Later that evening, Woo Young-woo discusses the ways a person can guess if someone’s lying with Dong Geurami, who tells her that she needs to look into the person’s eyes. But Woo Young-woo points out that it is the hardest thing for a person with autism, she suggests looking in between their eyebrows and playing a game of Cham Cham Cham. Elsewhere, Kwon Min-woo and Lee Jun-ho are playing basketball when Jung Myung-seok calls the former for some work regarding the case. Kwon Min-woo points out Woo Young-woo’s autism, calling it a handicap and takes up the job. This irritates Lee Jun-ho as he gets aggressive with his game.

Woo Young-woo continues to find ways to know if someone is lying and this time discusses this question with Lee Jun-ho. He gives her some tips to know when someone is lying and Woo Young-woo plays a game of Cham Cham Cham with him. But, she leaves him speechless when she asks if he likes her and the question is smoothly avoided by Lee Jun-ho. Elsewhere, Kwon Min-woo is able to meet someone from Leaders ATM Company to find clues about the cassette they had once made. At Ihwa, Woo Young-woo and Lee Jun-ho are ready to question the director only to find him injured in the arms, legs and in between the eyebrows, leaving Woo Young-woo flustered.

However, the director takes the two to Manager Bae of the R&D lab to let them get the information on the product. During the interrogation, she is able to find out that Manager Bae is lying about the product being their original invention. However, a call from Kwon Min-woo interrupts their discussion and he tells the director that the defendant won’t be able to prove their case as there are no products of Leaders Company which could have proved them wrong. Woo Young-woo understands what the two are up to and tells Manager Bae to present himself as a witness in the court while pointing out the signs that can prove him a liar.

At the trial, Woo Young-woo brings manager Bae in the witness stand and questions him the way she did during the interrogation and is able to shift the case to their side. A ban on the circulation of Geumgang products has been set and Woo Young-woo is unhappy about siding with the wrong people. Later she gets a letter from the CEO of Geumgang ATM company, pleading her to bring out the truth that she is aware of or else his company will have to suffer greater losses than Ihwa. She rushes to Kwon Min-woo when she is unable to find Jung Myung-seok, but he tells her that they have fought the case for their client and have done what they could to help him win. He also points out that the real tactician is herself for training the witness in order to win the case.

Extraordinary Attorney Woo Episode 5 Ending

Extraordinary Attorney Woo episode 5 ends with Woo Young-woo being aware that what she has done is wrong while being unable to open up about it to anyone. Later, during lunch Kwon Min-woo informs her about an on-site verification that is being held as Geumgang has been able to find an ATM machine from Leaders Company. The defendant is able to prove that Ihwa Company is guilty and the ban on Geumgang Company is lifted. But this doesn’t affect Ihwa company as they got hold of most of the contracts and even completed it, leaving Geumgang in a bad state.

The burden of guilt gets heavier on Woo Young-woo as she lets out her feelings in front of Lee Jun-ho while feeling ashamed. She later removes the gift given by Ihwa’s director and replaces it with the letter sent by Geumgang’s CEO. At Taesan Law Firm, the CEO is ready to be a candidate for the Minister of Justice as the administrator from the Office of the Secretary at the Blue House comes to check her paperwork. He later asks her about the rumour of there being an illegitimate child of hers which she denies but there seems to be a hidden secret behind her smile.

Extraordinary Attorney Woo Episode 5 Review

The world is cruel and filled with lies, today our protagonist is brought face to face with this reality which has sucked her into it while leaving her with a burden. A beautiful but sad episode that shows how this unfair world is slowly corrupting our precious Woo Young-woo and in order to survive she has to go with it. However, the only difference is that her guilt this time may make her avoid the same situation in the future. She has learnt her lesson and is aware that she cannot do something like this in the future which is why she removed the gift of lies and stuck the plea of truth on the wall.

I am able to see the growth taking place in Woo Young-woo but I also see more emotions in Lee Jun-ho. His frustration with the bias Woo Young-woo is facing, the way he avoids her question and the want to comfort her, in the end, are pointing to something that we are all waiting for.

Another thing that is necessary to point out is a secret that might come out soon. Yes, I’m talking about the CEO of Taesan Law Firm who seems to be the birth mother of Woo Young-woo. However, if this is true then I can expect it to come out in the upcoming episodes and this is exciting. I’m eagerly looking forward to the secret behind Woo Young-woo’s birth and why a talented law student ended up as a single dad.
