Summer Time Render Episode 12 Review- Horror

Sou Summer Time Render Episode 12

Things are just not letting up in this show. Just as soon as you think you might find out a few more things, the show thrusts you into another unknown abyss where the only thing that’s known and true is that Shinpei has the power to loop back after he dies. There are shadows which lurk inside every dark crevice of this island, and they plan to devour anything that moves on the night of the festival. Where does Shinpei fit into this? Why is Ushio the catalyst for everything? When are we going to learn more about this?

This was an extremely violent and gory episode of the show. People got shot (multiple times), got all their fingers cut off, got their heads crushed like an empty soda can, got sucked into an unknown nothingness, sacrificed themselves to save someone else, and committed suicide in one of the more gruesome ways you can imagine. It wasn’t an easy thing to get through, but because of these scenes, there wasn’t a moment where the show even took a breath before moving on to the next tragedy.

Shinpei Eye Summer Time Render Episode 12

I’m sure that this statement isn’t going to come as a surprise to any of you, but this episode was fantastic. I know, right? Who knew that this anime was actually good? This was also the mid point of the two-cour series, so there was a sense of additional danger and stakes that were higher than the rest of the show so far. The show capitalised on the intense scene it had set up in the previous episode and delivered upon a shocking outing that was among the best the show had ever done.

The “Mother”, or Haire as we learned her name was, is an astonishingly strong character by the standards of this show. As of now, our main characters are so outmatched against her and all of her subordinates that it isn’t even funny. Add Yokiko’s betrayal alongside other people who might be in her control to the mix, and you get an unwinnable position and the worst odds for victory that have been seen in quite a while. However, the heroes still have good old time on their side. For how much longer, though?

Shinpei is a perfectly capable protagonist who gets a lot of undue hate for whatever reason. He is willing to do everything he can to save his family and friends, and that includes watching them die over and over again just so he can kill himself and have another chance at saving them. The show is extremely dense with plot and character development and doesn’t seem to waste a second moving on to another timeline whenever it is done with one. It is a show that forces you to come back for more next week, and it does that by just being extremely high quality.

Verdict

Summer Time Render Episode 12 was a violently fantastic episode that slashed, but, and shot its way into being a phenomenal watch.
