My Fake Boyfriend: Everything to Know About the New Queer Rom-Com

Amazon Prime Video seems to be upping its romantic drama game this month. After the release of The Summer I Turned Pretty, which is resonating well with the audiences, the OTT platform is set to release another title in the romantic genre called My Fake Boyfriend. A queer romantic comedy, the film is directed by acclaimed director Rose Troche and written by Luke Albright, Joe Wanjai Ross, and Greg Boaldin.

The film was released to the US audience on June 17, 2022, and, is now scheduled to arrive on the international Amazon Prime Video platforms. Ahead of its release, let us get to know the film a little better.

My Fake Boyfriend Plot/Synopsis

IMDb’s official synopsis of the premise reads: “In the film, a young man in a tricky situation (Keiynan Lonsdale) follows the advice of his unconventional best friend (Dylan Sprouse) and uses social media to create a fake boyfriend to keep his awful ex-lover out of his life. But everything backfires when he meets the real love of his life, and breaking up with his fake boyfriend proves hard to do.”
