Our Blues Episode 18 Recap: Dong-seok Agrees To Fulfil His Mother’s Last Wish

Our Blues (우리들의 블루스) is a Korean drama series directed by Kim Kyu-tae and features Lee Byung-hun, Shin Min-a, Cha Seung-won, Lee Jung-eun, Han Ji-min, Kim Woo-bin, and Uhm Jung-hwa, alongside other cast members. The series has 20 episodes, and Our Blues Episode 18 is titled Ok-dong And Dong-seok 1 and has a runtime of 65 minutes.

In Our Blues Episode 18, Dong-seok has been shopping Seoul and thinks of giving Seon-a a surprise visit. He has not told her yet that he is in Seoul but asks her what would be her reaction if he suddenly visited her. When she replies that she would be extremely happy, he sets an alarm and goes to sleep. Dong-seok has been waiting for Seon-a outside her office but gets surprised himself seeing her with her ex-husband. He leaves angrily but Seon-a had already seen him.

Dong-seok is already upset and receives a call from Eun-hui who gives news about his mother’s cancer. She tells him to pick up her calls as she wants to go to Mokpo with him but he ignores her completely. All of his friends gather together to convince him to fulfil his mother’s last wish but he won’t listen. He tells them that they will never understand him because their mother never slept with their friend’s father and there is more to it than they will ever know.

Hyun has been working hard to make money to take care of his baby to come and he has already become responsible. While helping his dad at work, he receives a message that Yeon-ju has been hospitalized and they all hear in shock because she was not due yet. They rush to the hospital and Ho-sik cannot stop crying. Eun-hui reaches late and gets worried after seeing both In-gwon and Ho-sik but turns out Yeon-ju is only having contractions. She is giving birth to her baby a month earlier.

Dong-seok is disturbed and has been ignoring Seon-a’s calls but after having a heated discussion with his friends, he calls her and asks her if he should take his mother to Mokpo or not. He tells Seon-a something he had never told anyone before. After his father died, his mom took him to live with another man and ordered her to not call her mother but Auntie. When he refused, she beat him. He got bullied by his step-brothers continuously and his mother watched them do it without blinking an eye. However, Seon-a suggests he confront her, and he agrees with her.

Our Blues Episode 18 Ending

Dong-seok has arrived early in the morning to pick up his mother but she makes him do chores. Chun-hui also tags along with them and makes Dong-seok do her chores as well. He had no idea all of this would happen and gets frustrated. He is taking her to Mokpo unwillingly only because he wants to have answers, otherwise, he would have left them right there. However, their chores get them late to the port and they miss their ferry ride. The grandmothers are not worried at all but Dong-seok is frustrated, probably wondering why he agreed to take her.

Our Blues Episode 18 traps viewers in a situation that tests ur morality. Does one have to be a dutiful child to their parents even when they have done the bare minimum for them? All the parents ever gave their child is trauma, can they still demand the child to obey them? Answers may vary per situation and Dong-seok is caught in the same trap.
