SpiderMan: No Way Home VFX Supervisor on Andrew Garfield’s Scene Getting Spoiled

SpiderMan: No Way Home is cited as one of the best Marvel movies of 2021. The film stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Benedict Cumberbatch, Marisa Tomei and Jacob Batalon. Thanks to the multiverse twist, fans got to see their favourite Spideys played by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. Iconic villains played by Willem Dafoe, Alfred Molina, and Jamie Foxx were also a part of the film.

No Way Home is loved for many reasons. Seeing Benedict and Tom in another MCU film together was a treat for fans. Seeing three Spider-men together fighting the various bad guys was a great fan service too. But fans also loved the film for its brilliant VFX. However, a scene featuring Garfield was spoiled. Kelly Port, the VFX Supervisor of SpiderMan: No Way Home, has now talked about it.

VFX Supervisor Kelly Port appeared on the Corridor Crew YouTube channel to break the film’s VFX shots. Port shared that the image featuring Andrew Garfield in No Way Home was leaked on Twitter. He thinks that the image was leaked from the production’s outside vendors. But there’s no clue about who did it.

“It’s just thousands of people. Like, our visual effects team was by far our biggest team there is and often the leaks don’t necessarily come from VFX. In this case, I think they did, or an out-sourced vendor is where I think (the leak) really came from. I think the main thing that keeps people from doing it is just, they’re gonna lose their job, like, forever,” Kelly added.

“As a studio, when Marvel/Sony sends over a sequence to a visual effects studio to begin work, we call that a turnover. And then when they get that, it’s usually sent as a sequence, and your name is watermarked across the whole thing. That’s sort of the preventative medicine,” he added further.
