Zee5’s Turtle Review Contains No Spoilers

Water Crisis is a big issue in the world, including India. The desert state of India, Rajasthan, has been dealing with water shortages for the past many years. In Zee5 movie Turtle, people in the drought-stricken village have to buy water for survival. But it’s not peaceful as there’s a water war between the villagers. One such villager is Ramkaran Choudhary (Sanjay Mishra).

Ramcharan Choudhary assures the villagers that his father has buried gold slabs underneath the yard at their house. He asks the villagers to dig the big hole until they find the gold slabs. He promises that the gold slab will buy enough water for the village.

Everyone’s eyes are full of glee and hope to quench the thirst. They dig and dig until they find something. Will the villagers find any gold? How will Ramkaran and others control the water crisis? You witness everything in the 100 minutes.

Turtle Review Zee5

Ramkaran Chaudhary plays a thirsty turtle in the scorching sun in the Zee5 film Turtle. He carefully waits till the ground is dug, hoping to find some trace of water. But director Dinesh S Yadav has shown that the village won’t stop with their ill practices despite having such a big crisis. Fights, name-calling, superstitious beliefs, and child marriage are all common. It paints a picture of an India that many people believe no longer exists.

Dinesh, the writer-director, had a compelling concept in his mind. He kept the storytelling approach very down-to-earth. There are no over-the-top, dramatic scenes to let us feel the gravity of the situation. But that simple approach sometimes distracts us. The story has its heart in the right place, but the execution could’ve been solid.

Turtle Review (2018): Sanjay Mishra in a Tale of Crisis

Sanjay Mishra is an incredible actor, and he’s shown us again why so! As Ramkaran Choudhary, Mishra starts by giving us a fierce villager. As the story progresses, we witness him succumb to the crisis. The rest of the cast is likewise excellent. The film’s music has a strong Rajasthani folk flavour to it.

Turtle Review: Final Thoughts

Overall, Mishra’s latest is a decent watch. There aren’t many stories about the water crisis. It’s a wake-up call for those who still believe we’re living in the good days. We aren’t even near, and cities aren’t indicative of a healthy and happy country. People still pay to drink water regularly.

The film is streaming on Zee5.
