One John Abraham plays Satya, Home Minister who wants to make the country corruption-free. But the ministers, including his politician wife Vidya (Divya Khosla Kumar), vote against his anti-corruption bill. Satya has no choice but to turn a vigilante at night and punish (kill) anyone involved in any wrongdoings.
There’s another John, Jay, Satya’s younger brother and a cop. He’s a mixture of Singham, Simmba and Sooryavanshi. Jay’s entry in Satyameva Jayate 2 happens when he saves a girl from getting raped. I mean, is it a Bollywood movie if the ‘hero’ isn’t a hero until a girl gets sexually assaulted? Also, the director is so confident about people’s reaction to Jay’s entry that he made Sahil Vaid say the lines – “Hero ne entry maari , public ne seeti maari ab toh shuru maara maari.” If that wasn’t enough, the next one immediately comes, “Kasam cinema ki, ab dikha de tu beti hai dharti maa ki”.
Anyway, there’s another John Abraham, the dead one, their father and a farmer – Dadasaheb Balram Azaad. It was Dadasaheb who started the fight against corruption to support farmers, and now his son wants to do the same. In Milap Zaveri’s world, peaceful dialogue to solve issues isn’t an option. The only solution is maar peet and maut!
As expected, Milap Zaveri’s movie has lots of fights, action scenes, drama, exaggerated plots and weird characters. Some scenes depict the reality where doctors go on strike as the patient dies and hospitals run out of oxygen leading to kids’ deaths. But is violence the only answer to deal with such grave issues? I’m not saying that criminals should get away with their crimes. But the world doesn’t function on brutality, carelessness or impulses.
No matter what intention or good beliefs a person has, you cannot take the law into your hands. There are many facepalm moments and meme content in the first half. There’s a twist before the intermission, which didn’t surprise me. After the interval, the plot gets dragged and becomes messier. Yet again, a girl has to get raped because Bollywood is obsessed with exploiting women to give their heroes a ‘big’ mission.

Rape is a serious crime, and if the intention were only to highlight how wrong it is, I wouldn’t mind. But using that act as a boost to your hero and dramatisation with real-life examples is infuriating. Coming to dialogues, there’s always declaration instead of an exchange of words. In the beginning, characters were talking in poetry. I wonder what happened to them because later, they all started yelling. Did the makers assume that the audience is deaf? I NEED ANSWERS!
You must be wondering why I’m not describing the plot in detail. Well, that’s how the plot goes in the movies. You don’t know what’s happening most of the time. But these 3 John Abraham (one in the past) are confident that they will eradicate corruption. The characters boast about fighting for farmers’ rights, but the entire movie is about Dadasaheb, Satya and Jay. It’s like ‘birthday party Kisi aur ki aur cake koi aur kha raha hai’.
Satyameva Jayate 2 Review: Performance and Music
John Abraham takes his shirt off in this movie at least twice. He fights. He tries to be funny. The actor has a lot of action scenes, and he’s good in them. The actor tries to show wild anger at times but ends up looking funny. Divya Khosla Kumar, with one constant expression, adds more cringe to the disastrous story. She’s a politician but does everything else except politics. She’s dancing at someone else’s wedding, constantly crying (why though?), has stupid dialogues and keeps Karwa Chauth fast. No matter what your job is, a woman in such Hindi movies will always be overshadowed by her man.
Also, is it a patriotic Hindi film if there’s no dance number by Nora Fatehi? I thought I wouldn’t see anything worse than Bhuj: The Pride of India this year. Just like the dialogues, the background music is also loud. There’s National Anthem, and prayer songs played unexpectedly in various scenes. I believe Milap intended to show unity in diversity. But the weak story with extreme overdramatisation makes it difficult to take anything seriously.

Satyameva Jayate 2 Review: Final Thoughts
Overall, Satyameva Jayate 2 is hard to sit through, failing to be a good masala Hindi movie. There’s a dialogue, “Shukla ji toh aise hass rahe hai jaise kisi superhit picture ka part 2 chal raha ho”. The first part was indeed a hit and somewhat bearable. But the second part is not something you’ll enjoy.
The director has tried to highlight many important and ongoing concerns in the country – corruption, farmers’ issues, rape cases, religious intolerance and more. But the brash execution, messy plot, bizarre dialogues, and loud music make everything look like a parody.
