Marvel’s Hawkeye Episodes 1 and 2 are now out on Disney Plus. Created by Jonathan Igla, Rhys Thomas has directed the first two episodes written by Jonathan and Elisa Climent. The series stars Jeremy Renner, Hailee Steinfeld, Vera Farmiga, Fra Fee, Tony Dalton, Zahn McClarnon, Brian d’Arcy James and Alaquia Cox. It’s the fifth MCU TV series released on the digital platform.
The synopsis for Hawkeye series Episode 1 reads, “Archer Kate Bishop lands in the middle of a criminal conspiracy, forcing Hawkeye out of retirement.”
Episode 2 synopsis reads, “Clint has to help Kate disentangle herself from the Tracksuit mafia and a real-life murder mystery.”
Hawkeye Review (Episode 1 and 2) Contains Mild Spoilers
The story starts with a flashback from the 2012 New York battle where we meet a kid Kate Bishop. She watches how Clint fights the Chitauri force and saves her life without even realising it. Cut to the present day where grown-up Kate (Hailee Steinfeld) is an archer. Her mother, Eleanor (Vera Farmiga), is the head of a security company and engaged to Jack Duquesne (Tony Dalton). Kate isn’t a fan of Jack, who honestly appears quite shady. On the other hand, Clint (Jeremy) is watching Rogers: The Musical with his three children.
After WandaVision and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Marvel has shown how the superheroes are humans too. We get to witness how Clint is dealing with the aftermath of Thanos’ battle. He has a hearing problem which makes sense considering the traumatising journey his character has been so far.

The Avenger is still having a tough time as his best friend Natasha (Scarlett Johansson) sacrificed herself to save his life. There are 6 days left for Christmas, and Clint wants to celebrate it with his family. However, Kate Bishop unintentionally does something related to Clint’s past. The Hawkeye has no choice but to put an end to it. He has a Christmas celebration promise to keep to his daughter. But in the second episode, the troubles seem to have just begun for Kate and Clint. How will they manage to get out of this? We will find out in the next four episodes.
Hawkeye has a Home Alone vibe with a Marvel Cinematic Universe touch. It all begins with the 2012 incident that altered everyone’s lives, including Clint and Kate’s. The writers have wasted no time in revealing who Kate is. You like her right away because she’s fascinating. It’s good to see more of Clint as Jeremy’s superhero never really enjoyed the same limelight as other Avengers.

Episode Still 3
The Disney+ Marvel series captures your attention right away and keeps you entertained all the way. The humour and action are well-balanced, and the backdrop is welcoming. It’s pretty relaxing to watch the dazzling lights, snow, and Christmas moods. However, danger lurks amid the warmth.
While Jack makes you suspicious right away, I have grave concerns about Kate’s mother, Eleanor. As if that wasn’t enough, Hawkeye episode 2 concludes with a bang by unveiling a major enemy.
Hawkeye Review: Final Thoughts
The first two episodes are exciting, action-packed, and intriguing. It’s a good set-up to keep us guessing as to what will happen next. A dog named Lucky, also known as Pizza Dog, adds to the cuteness quotient. Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop is a perfect choice as she balances the eccentricity, strength, and silliness. Although Jeremy Renner has always played Hawkeye, seeing more of his Clint side, grieving and concerned, was a good change.
