Deadline reports that the Husband-wife duo Arturo Perez Jr. and Samantha Jayne are taking over as directors for the film adaptation of Mean Girls The Musical by the American production label Paramount Players. This is going to mark the team’s feature directorial debut at a studio.

It will be produced by Lorne Michaels and Tina Fey. It is also noted that Fey will revive as the scriptwriter for this upcoming adaptation. As this is going to be a musical, we might witness music by Jeff Richmond and lyrics written by Nell Benjamin.

The premise of the upcoming title is still under the wraps. However, given we know that Tina Fey is contributing as the principal writer, we can expect things from the original film to roll out in this musical too.

The original film starred Lindsay Lohan as Cady and Rachel McAdams as Regina George, with a strong supporting cast that included Tina Fey, Ana Gasteyer, Amy Poehler, Amanda Seyfried and various others. The cast, however, changed for its not-so-hit sequel- Mean Girls 2.

A teenage-young adult delight, Mean Girls has become a must-watch for cinephiles over the ages. As you wait for Mean Girls The Musical, you can catch the original film now on Amazon Prime.
