Ariana Grande: Excuse Me, I Love You premiered on 21st December 2020 on Netflix. Directed by Paul Dugdale, the concert film follows Ariana Grande on-stage and behind the scenes during the Sweetener World Tour in 2019 which had a lineup of 101 concerts. The tour visited North American and European cities on 101 different dates beginning from 18th March 2019 and concluding on 22nd December 2019. Additionally, the Sweetener World Tour was attended by approximately 1.3 million people, making it her highest-grossing world tour to-date.
Powerpack Performance With Heart and Soul
Ariana Grande is one beloved pop-singer and there is no denying that. Excuse Me, I Love You gives us a look away from the glitz and glam even if for a shorter while. The majority of the 97-minute long film focuses on this singer’s powerhouse vocals and beautiful and talented stage presence during her 2019 Tour. Grande brings a rather grounded image of herself on-screen talking to her friend about one of her dog poop episodes which she experienced while FaceTiming Kristin Chenoweth and telling us about her inspiration – Mariah Carey, all the while getting emotional. It is a complete package!
Even if you’re not a Grande fan, the film will make you grow fond of her both as a singer and as an off-stage personality. There is also a short dramatic moment here as Ariana pretends to faint during her rehearsals as she hears the news that the House voted to impeach now ex-President Donald Trump. As the majority of the film is set in her concert, we see Grande bringing an on-stage performance that’ll make you want to attend one of her concerts at least once as it is pop-excellence and it’ll be no surprise if you become a fan of hers like me.
A special mention here goes out to the spectacular stage design which compliments Ariana’s electric performance and dance routines. My favourite set here has to be her God is a Woman set where she, along with 12 of her dance-crew, recreates Da Vinci’s last supper in a modernized way and indeed God is A Woman.
Summing up, Ariana Grande: Excuse Me, I Love You is not the most revolutionary musical-film you might have seen and neither is it trying to be one. It is more of an attempt to connect fans and Ariana in a way that is heartfelt and grounded. The film is wholesome, power-packed, and sweet! There is no Thank you, Next here instead just Thank you for this blissful film which makes you both smile and misty-eyed, fan or not!

STREAM IT! Ariana Grande: Excuse Me, I Love You is one beautiful film with everything about it designed in an appreciable way. As the year is coming to an end, the film gives us a fair and heartfelt dose of the concerts we missed this year and as we watch this let’s say 2020 – Thank you, Next!
