The Barrier episode 13 recap

What a finale! No seriously, if you’ve been following The Barrier since episode 1, then The Barrier episode 13 will be such a great episode to watch. It’s action-packed, heart-warming and full of hope, considering the life that we’re living right now.

Okay, so recap. The Barrier episode 13, Last Days of the Present, has Luis scrambling to find safety after standing up for what’s right in the last episode and starting a revolution. Through the revolution, there’s (obviously) unrest in Spain and the government will do anything it can to stifle it. Well, not if Emilia and Luis have something to do with it. On the other hand, Fernando, too, comes out as an ally, and not only helps in giving Luis protection, but also provides the ultimate sacrifice to save that man’s life. Here’s to a great character whom we didn’t get to see much.

In addition to them, Julia and Hugo scramble to find Marta who has again been kidnapped. I swear, after all of this is over, that girl will need so much therapy for the PTSD that she’s about to experience. Everyone tries to kidnap her in order to use her to cure the virus. However, here the biggest character who comes to Julia and Hugo’s rescue is Carlos who swoops in like a guardian angel. They, thus, save not only Marta but also all of the children. The scene where the protestors and the police face off against each other is absolutely brilliant and heart-warming and gives you tons of hope.

The Barrier episode 13 ends with the President dying and the police just giving up on gunning everyone down. After that, we see an elated Alma, who was previously distraught at not being able to go through with a genocide, addressing the people. I have a question here: so, do the people not know about her hand in all of this debacle? And if not, then why?

However, the dictatorship is over, and Spain is on its way to becoming a democracy again. We learn about the aftermath of it from a voiceover by Emilia, who talks to her husband’s gravestone and gives us a rundown of what all went through. She hints at a little something between Julia and Hugo, and not gonna lie, I hope that happens (if we get a second season).

The Barrier episode 13’s cliffhanger makes me wonder if we’ll get another season. I thoroughly enjoyed the series and its ending is satisfying and ties all of its loose ends. However, I do feel that they tied everything up a bit too rushed, but it’s still very satisfying and easy to overlook.

The Barrier episode 13 is streaming on Netflix.

  1. I agree , I hope Alma is hallucinating because everyone knew was head of the experiments . It doesn’t make sense that she could be president.
I thought she was off to marry the general at first. No way can she come out in top after all she has done
