5 Reasons to Watch You Maniac: Why It Should Be On Your List of Thai BL Obsessions

Some BL dramas get two red flags together and make you go like, “I am watching that, for sure.” You Maniac truly belongs to this category.

The upcoming GMMTV Thai BL series You Maniac has already managed to get people talking with the premiere date approaching. The series is set to premiere on August 29, 2026.

The series brings William Jakrapatr Kaewpanpong as Dean and Est Supha Sangaworawong as Moth in the main roles, alongside supporting cast members like Barcode Tinnasit Isarapongporn and Kin Thanachai.

5 Reasons to Watch You Maniac

The premise of You Maniac BL series seems messy. The story brings us Dean and Moth, both red flags, in their own ways; opposite to each other, they fake date each other, but with time they start developing real feelings.

But it is a BL; things cannot stay that simple. Real questions like “when will they stop pretending” and “who is actually going to confess” would appear suddenly to the viewers.

If you are searching for reasons why the show deserves a place in your watchlist, here are five of them that signal green.

WilliamEst Are So Back

First things first. WilliamEst

If you have watched Thame Po: Heart That Skips a Beat, you already know the William and Est chemistry that does not need to be screamed every few minutes. That works because there is an interesting contrast between the two: Est brings a quieter presence while William comes with a very playful energy. But the You Maniac BL series might throw these dynamics into another vessel altogether.

The series perhaps puts them into roles where neither character is particularly safe. They are described as two red flags in their own ways.

Fake Dating Is A BL Trope

Fake Dating is one of the tropes that stays alive, because it sells. Two people agree that they are pretending to love each other; they date. They set rules, insist on the boundaries and promise that nobody is going to catch feelings whatsoever.

A few episodes later, jealousy and accidental intimacy appear. You Maniac BL series takes a familiar setup and gives a chaotic spin, as it does not obviously start from a place of mutual attraction, which means the fun is not watching them fall for each other but the arrangement that they ‘created’ has become their reality.

What a mess! Do we want it? Yes!

Red Flag X Red Flag Dynamic

Red flag meeting a green flag and them falling in love is okay, but what happens when two ‘red flags’ fall? Now we are cooking!

What makes You Maniac particularly interesting is that the story is not presenting the protagonists as two perfectly emotionally mature people who simply need the right person to get the way to their heart or even an emotionally mature person healing another.

They are flawed; both of them are, and they make questionable decisions, do not necessarily communicate well and are getting into a relationship.

The official premise itself leans into the idea that the leads are opposites while both carry their own red flags. With the progression of the series, we might perhaps get to watch the distances blur into genuine feelings.

Safe to say that watching fictional characters make terrible romantic decisions sometimes gets the viewers’ relatability quotient clocked.

William And Est’s Completely Different Side

Something is exciting about the actors pairing up again but in a completely changed relationship flavour. William and Est have shared screen before, but You Maniac is not simply a recreation of the earlier characters with new names.

Dean and Moth have a rather chaotic foundation, which matters because chemistry is also about whether they can make you believe that they are obsessed with each other. This story would give plenty to play with: denial, irritation, attraction, emotional dilemma.

It Seems Like A BL That Does Not Take Romance Too Seriously

You Maniac comes with an entirely different premise altogether. The trailer shows a playful premise with enough emotional mess under it to keep the story away from being just a cute love story. The result could be funny, chaotic or emotionally frustrating, but that is for the episodes to tell us.

Do We Watch It?

The Thai BL series You Maniac has the starter pack set, but the big reason to keep an eye on the story is that Dean and Moth do not seem interested in giving an uncomplicated love story, which adds a layer of excitement.

So yes, add You Maniac BL series to the watchlist because if two people get into a relationship with 0 intention of falling in love, there is only one outcome: THEY FALL.
