5 Best Moments From Bridgerton Season 4
The Masquerade Ball – A Cinderella Moment
Bridgerton is nothing without its grand balls, and this time, the Bridgertons are throwing the first ball of the season. Although the Queen is quite confused with this choice, questioning Lady Danbury why she chose to hand over the mantle, the tantalising effect of a masquerade party leaves all the attendees excited. The ball is a success, but the main point of interest turns out to be Benedict, who is in the marriage market now, much to the excitement of the mamas.

Awkward encounters, though, can only last so long as he suddenly stumbles upon his “Lady in Silver”, whose views surrounding life stun him into attention. He is immediately enamoured by her and dances the night away, but before he can catch her name, she ushers out of the house at the strike of midnight, leaving Benedict with a glove and a whole lot of memories. It’s the scene that starts it all and leaves us eager to keep watching.

Sophie’s True Identity

We are left to wonder who this mysterious woman is, and as it turns out, Sophie is none other than Lady Araminta Gun’s maid, Sophie Baek, who had stolen time away from her duties to experience what a grand ball would look like. Helped by her friends at the Gun’s residence, she makes her way back home just in time to not be discovered by anyone, but Lady Araminta has her doubts.

Violet Rediscovering Herself

From season 3, we see a tension brewing within Lady Violet Bridgerton, who, with her children all leaving the nest, finds herself a bit lonely and yearning for someone who will look at her as something more than a mother or provider. This season showcases her understanding that she must live her life on her own terms and progress her relationship with Lady Danbury’s brother, Lord Marcus Anderson.
Although the relationship is slow and awkward at first, season 4 sees Violet letting go of her inhibitions and finally enjoying her life.

A Salacious Relationship Brews For Francesca

Francesca and John Stirling’s relationship has been quite the snooze fest since season 3, as they are both quite tame and introverted. This season continues with her reluctant relationship with her husband – although she loves him, she is unable to find pleasure with him. Not knowing how to achieve a “pinnacle”, she questions different people about it, eventually having a frank conversation with John, who promises to love her regardless of how she is or what she wants.
However, things come to a head when, during a party at their house, Francesca is shocked to see Michaela Stirling in front of them. Although this relationship was hinted at previously, it becomes clear that feelings are brewing for Francesca towards Michaela, which we might get to see in part 2.
The Staircase Scene

Part 1 concludes with Benedict confessing his feelings for Sophie, and viewers, at first, are left breathless at his direct confession that doesn’t beat around the bush. However, in a shocking turn, Benedict asks her to be his mistress, clearly not understanding that Sophie was expecting him to propose marriage or at least realise that she’s the Lady in Silver. It blindsides everyone, triggering Sophie to walk away and leaving Benedict to wonder what he did wrong. It highlights Benedict’s fear of commitment and the societal aspects of having a relationship with a maid, even when he clearly wants Sophie.
