10 Actors With Kenergy Ryan Gosling Would Sign Off On: Andy Samberg, Ryan Reynolds and More

Since Barbie is coming to theatres soon and all the actors have been trying their best to market this movie as well as they can, we have decided to compile some brilliant actors with Kenergy that would bring a whole new boy band of members to the roster. This film is a Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach project starring Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, Issa Rae, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Simu Liu, Emma Mackey, Ncuti Gatwa, Hellen Mirren, Will Ferrell, America Ferrera, Alexandra Shipp, Kate McKinnon, Dua Lipa, Scott Evans, Nicola Coughlan and Ritu Arya, alongside other cast members.

The following actors don’t just emulate the physical attributes of Ken but also embody the energy that makes them the character in the first place. Their vibe, energy and general demeanour on/off screen make them the best kind of Ken. Even Gosling would be ready to sign off on this list because these people perfectly reflect the Kenergy he gives the audience. So without any further ado, here are some actors that could easily fit the bill.

Actors With Kenergy

Andy Samberg

If anyone has seen Brooklyn Nine-Nine, they would know that Jake Peralta would make a perfect Ken, and this man brought him to life in a way that makes perfect Ken-se. If anyone is still considering this actor to play the part, the episode with his frosted tips is enough to convince anyone to look at Samberg in that light. His humour, aloofness and overall lack of chill give the perfect vibe required to be a Ken. Given that his public persona is also similar, the whole idea is brilliant.

Ryan Reynolds

He may just be Ken, but he will bring everything special to this character. While this actor’s brand of humour generally involves sarcasm and deadpan comedy, the nature of this Ken will definitely be different. Like the titular character in Free Guy, this actor could play the ignorant lovable idiot with a penchant for coolness at some point. His version of Kenneth Sean Carson would have all of us in stitches, and that would be the best part. And given that Blake Lively looks a-ken to a Malibu Barbie definitely helps in this situation.

Jeff Goldblum

In direct contrast to the Gymnast Barbie, we would have this actor as Ken because he would be the one who tries to give everyone advice and guides them on a journey. Like the Cheshire cat, he has the energy of someone who leads someone into some harmless trouble just to see what would happen. Maybe he would goad some of the other Kens into starting a beach-off and sit in unhingedness, sipping on a Pina Colada on the side. It is his general flair and buoyancy that gives the perfect Kenergy.

David Corenswet

Now that he has been tasked to play Superman, it is fair to expect that he would be the perfect academic Ken, trying his best to keep up with the Barbie that has been leaving him in the dust. His picture-perfect features and superhero potential definitely make him a great candidate. But the real thing that awa-kens the energy in him is the fact that only a Ken would expect normal people not to recognise him when he’s wearing a pair of glasses.

Hasan Minhaj

Considering how this comedian is literally an accessory to his wife most of the time (his words), it makes him the perfect Ken. His colleague Trevor Noah also shared how they were like the Indian Barbie and Ken. If that is not enough evidence, maybe we can talk about how hilarious he is, and the moments of normal aloofness are so cute that he definitely embodies the most kenergy ever. Moreover, there is an episode of Patriot Act where he was dressed in a cruise captain’s uniform, and there is something that can be li-ken-ed to the current version of the character.

Michael Cimino

In case anyone missed him in Never Have I Ever, his character in the show was incredibly Ken-coded. Apart from the floppy hair and the general California vibe he carried with him everywhere, it was also the innocence and the slight wide-eyed energy that made him perfect for being Ken. His additional performance in How I Met Your Father only adds to the Ken points because his entire character was so simp-coded that there is definitely a Barbie-Ken relationship going on.

Lucas Till

Remember the OG boy next door, from the You Belong With Me music video? Well, this actor definitely gives that energy. Even though he’s just Ken, there are many versions of him, including the dude bro version he is bringing. It is brilliant to see those long floppy blond locks and immediately connect him to the Ken we know and love. Doll Ken has nothing on this specimen. Considering the seriousness he brings to most of his other roles, including the one in X-Men, he could emulate the overly serious Ken, who manages to make everything funny because of it.

Gavin Casalegno

Wake up bestie, the YA Ken fan casting just dropped. Seeing him in The Summer I Turned Pretty was already enough to know that he would make the perfect Ken. If the sandy blond hair and beach vibes don’t convince you, maybe the character’s energy would. Being the perfect charmer that he is, the bisexual icon, Jeremiah would be the perfect Ken. He even volunteered as a lifeguard! It is all coming together perfectly, with Ken helping the damsel in distress Barbie, even though she isn’t actually distressed.

SPECIAL MENTIONS

WONHO

If this picture gives any indication, we have found the perfect car-washing Ken, who repairs Barbie’s car and helps her clean it up. His only job is to shower water on the car, even though it doesn’t get dirty and there is no water coming out of the showerhead. Additionally, the blond hair and the pink in the background is only adding to the aesthetic. Also notable that the denim jeans and the tank top are so Ken-joyable to see that this picture could very well have been his audition to play Ken.

EXO Kai

This Ken is kooking. He is definitely up to some kind of shenanigans that Barbie is so scared to ask what it’s about, but he does not care. This is the Ken we all dressed up to look however we wanted him to look. There is no aesthetic, and there is no specific fashion inspiration other than ‘Little Girl/Boy goes Ballistic’. However, unlike the other actors as Ken, this one has a secret talent, and that is what is being hidden by all this silliness.

Barbie will be coming to theatres on July 21, 2023.
